Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP)
An individual state's measure of yearly progress toward achieving state academic standards. Adequate yearly progress is the minimum level of improvement that states, school districts, and schools must achieve each year, according to federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation.
Atlas Rubicon
Electronic culmination of curriculum that is created by faculty, administrators and greater school community and is always customized to reflect a school’s pedagogy, academic standards and unique curricular needs. East Detroit Atlas Rubicon (http://eastdet.rubiconatlas.org) allows each educator to easily pin meaningful reports to their own dashboard for at-a-glance access to information they need. Through a unique communication commons, the school community can start and join collaborative conversations vital to curriculum advancement.
Annual Measurable Objective (AMO)
The annual target for the percentage of students whose test scores must be proficient or above in English/language arts and mathematics. Meeting the AMO is the first step toward demonstrating adequate yearly progress under the federal law No Child Left Behind (NCLB).
BTN - Building Turnaround Network
CAPS – CAPS is an interim alternative placement program for Special Education students who are on a long term suspension (30+days) from the district pending a return to school.

HomeBOUND – Homebound services are offered to students who will be out of school for more than 5 consecutive days due to illness. This can include pregnancy, cancer, severe flu, hospitalizations, or any condition which is determined to meet the criteria by the Director of Special Education or their designee. Under the law, we are required to provide 2 non-consecutive hours of services to the student per week. A student receiving these services DO NOT have to be a special education student.
HomeBASED – Homebased services are offered to students who are expelled from the district AND who receive Special Education services. Under the law, we are required to provide services to special education students in this situation for 2 non-consecutive hours weekly.
IDP - Individualized Development Plan
A clear statement of an employee's career goals. Typically for probationary or struggling teachers.
IRP - Individual Reading Plan
In October 2016, The Michigan Legislature passed a critical law that will have tremendous implications upon our students across the State. Beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, third-graders could be retained if they demonstrate reading proficiency levels that are more than one level behind.
ILC - Instructional Learning Cycle
is a collaborative short-term process of. instructional improvement. lLCs provide opportunities for teachers, along with. their colleagues (i.e. other teachers, coaches and /or principals), to reflect on the. quality of classroom instruction.
IIC - Instructional Infrastructure Committee

The Michigan Association of Intermediate School Administrators is comprised of superintendents and administrators representing the 57 Intermediate School Districts (ISDs) in the State of Michigan. ISD administrators provide and coordinate essential services to their constituent school districts to facilitate teaching and learning
Measure of Academic Progress (MAP)
MAP— NWEA’s computerized adaptive tests are called Measure of Academic Progress, or MAP. When taking a MAP test, the difficulty of each question is based on how well a student answers all the previous questions. As the student answers correctly, questions become more difficult. If the student answers incorrectly, the questions become easier. In an optimal test, a student answers approximately half the items correctly and half incorrectly. The final score is an estimate of the student’s achievement level

It mandates annual student testing, includes guidelines for underperforming schools, and requires states to train all teachers and assistants to be "highly qualified".

Priority Schools (formerly known as Persistently Lowest Achieving Schools) are Michigan public schools identified in the bottom 5% of the statewide Top to Bottom ranking.
